BaseballAn example of pop culture in Cuba is baseball. Although many associate soccer with Latin American countries around the world, baseball is by far the most common sport there. Its rise in popularity is due to Nemesio Guillot, the founder of the first common club in Cuba. Many young men strive to be on the national team and compete in international games.

Cuban ZapateoOne example of folk culture in the country is the Cuban Zapateo dance. This traditional dance was the most common in the late 1800's and early 1900's. Cuba adopted the dance from France and Spain and spread it throughout the country. Only in the province of Ciego de Avila is the dance still used in peasant affairs.
